Melissa Krebs, an associate professor of chemical and biological engineering at Colorado School of Mines, launched GelSana Therapeutics in 2020, which produces a hydrogel that helps wounds heal faster by reducing inflammation. The company plans to expand its product line to include topical medication that gradually disperses, reducing the need for frequent dressing changes for patients with conditions like diabetic ulcers.
